General Operating Grants: General operating support and unrestricted funds are essential for the health and stability of the organization and the delivery of quality services to rural communities. General operating support allows the Sierra Institute to develop new partnerships and opportunities, train staff, and respond quickly to issues that affect the wellbeing of rural communities.

The Sierra Institute seeks general operating grants and donations to develop best practices in applied research and community collaboration, maintain high levels of staff expertise, and explore creative new ways to serve rural communities.

General operating support also enables us to build networks of rural people, organizations, agencies, scientists, and policy-makers, to deepen our understanding of critical issues facing rural communities and create collaborative strategies for addressing them.

Project Grants: Project grants provide designated funds to complete specific projects or events. For a list of our current projects, click here.
