ABOUT PWCFC: OTHER COMMUNITY FORESTRY CENTERS: |
Jonathan Kusel is founder and executive director of Forest Community Research. He is the principal investigator and director of the Pacific West Community Forestry Center. Jonathan holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on community well-being and assessment, social-indicator use and evaluation, community-based group processes, and natural resource policy. (Email: Kusel@sierrainstitute.us) Katie Bagby is coordinator for the Pacific West Community Forestry Center. Her background is in community-based research and program development on issues of socioeconomic and environmental justice. Katie received her M.A. in Environmental Sociology and Community Studies from Washington State University. (Email: KBagby@sierrainstitute.us) Amy Hafsrud and Joyce Cunningham (Email: Joyce@sierrainstitute.us) provide administrative support for the Pacific West Center. Research AssociatesMark Baker is a program associate at Forest Community Research. He has studied community forestry and local irrigation management in India, as well as the evolution of watershed institutions in California. Mark received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. Mark's current work with PWCFC is focused on a pilot study of the restoration industry in Humboldt and Trinity counties. (Email: MBaker@sierrainstitute.us) Beth Rose Middleton is a research assistant for Forest Community Research and the Pacific West Community Forestry Center. She is a Ph.D. student in Environmental Science and Policy at the University of California, Berkeley. Her primary interests are in environmental justice, community health, and increasing communication between Native American and mainstream approaches to resource management. She has taken the lead on the PWCFC's environmental justice work. (Email: bethrose@nature.berkeley.edu) Leah Wills is a program associate with Forest Community Research. She works on water and water-related issues including rural-water rights protection and watershed rehabilitation and reinvestment. She received an M.A. in Rural Development from California State University, Chico. She has been involved in the PWCFC's work on environmental justice and water. |
