Salmon spawning in Deer Creek

This tour is focused on Deer Creek, one of the last free running salmon streams in the Sierra. Participants will learn about the wild salmon population that utilizes Deer Creek and about the effects of fire on riparian habitats.

The tour will be lead by Ken Roby, a retired Fisheries Biologist, and Ryan Foote, Fisheries Biologist with the Almanor Ranger District of the Lassen National Forest.

The tour will discuss “good” versus “bad” fires, and participants will learn about nearby meadow and forest restoration projects currently underway.
