Participants travel along the scenic Genesee-Beckwourth wagon road on a hired bus, making stops at cultural and historic sites along the way. Farrell Cunningham, a local Mountain Maidu Historian, and Dan Elliott, Archeologist and Tribal Relations Manager with the U.S. Forest Service, serve as the day’s tour guides. Enjoy informative presentations and entertaining tales set against a scenic backdrop that once hosted a busy railroad, horse drawn carriages, booming hotels, and mountain explorers. This spectaclar landscape is the homeland of the Mountain Maidu Indians.
