| The Maidu people, who have lived in the northern Sierra mountains for thousands of years, already knew what a wonderfully diverse and beautiful area surrounded Humbug Valley. Various settlers began moving into the area via the Humboldt Stage route to harvest timber, run dairies, and settle new places. The old Humbodt Stage route, which began in 1841 as a single tenuous strand along the Humboldt River and eventually took travelers to Susanville, is rich with history and is surrounded by beautiful mountains and valleys. |
