The Sierra Institute understands that the sustainability of forests and watersheds is inextricably tied to the economic health and well-being of rural communities. Furthermore, vibrant rural communities require a continued relationship with the land.

Our two program areas are based on the belief that sustainable environments are a function of community well-being  — and vice versa.
