Restoration

East Branch North Fork Restoration

Hosselkus Creek:

The Feather River CRM completed work in 2002 and 2006 on Hosselkus Creek, a tributary flowing into Indian Creek in Genesee Valley. Using a pond and plug technique, these efforts have restored over 3,000 feet of channel length. This project has improved meadow and stream channel function on over 25 acres.

Work was done in partnership with Plumas County, Neff Ranch, Plumas NF, and RWQCB. Funding sources included Proposition 204 and the Plumas Watershed Forum for a total of $250,000.

Wolf Creek:

The Natural Resource Academy, formed by Sierra Institute and Greenville Jr/Sr High School, collaborated with the USFS on a creek restoration project along Wolf Creek near Greenville. Students planted over 200 riparian plants as part of the project. Some of these were grown in the greenhouse as another part of the school’s natural resource academy.

The students have also been involved with planting trees along Lights Creek to help restore the watershed as it recovers from the 2007 Moonlight Fire.
