RestorationMiddle Fork Feather River sub-watershedSmith Creek:
Located northeast of the community of Graeagle, Smith Creek is an important fishery and tributary of the Middle Fork Feather River. In 2007, FRCRM completed a project to reduce bank erosion by using boulder vanes and planting new vegetation along a 700 foot channel segment of the creek. They also installed six floodplain access culverts to help alleviate flooding of the creek. Long Valley Creek:
In 2008, FRCRM completed a 107 acre meadow floodplain project on Long Valley Creek. The effort replaced a gullied portion of the creek with 34 plugs and 30 ponds and added new vegetation to help control bank erosion. This has helped improve habitat vitality and stability throughout the area. |
